<\/span>Challenge<\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

A global pharmaceutical and chemical company headquartered in Switzerland is reliant on extremely low temperature cooling for its drug manufacturing operation. The company develops and produces ingredients for research-based pharmaceutical clients. When their large compressor was damaged, temporary deep cooling was needed to ensure they could keep production going.

As the company already had a number of Trane units on site, they were well aware of Trane\u2019s technical expertise, reliable and robust equipment as well as excellent customer service. Their initial plan was to rent a Trane RTAF air-cooled chiller to provide cooling at temperatures of -10\u00b0C to -12\u00b0C. However, after the Trane Rental team visited the site and discussed the customer\u2019s needs, it was determined that a solution capable of providing far lower temperatures was required.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/span>Solutions<\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Trane Rental supplied the customer with:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    \n
  • 2 low temperature VLT 60 units along with<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • 1 Sintesis eXcellent CGAF100 air-cooled chiller.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

    Together the units provide 4000 kW of cooling capacity at temperatures of -25\u00b0C to -30\u00b0C, far lower than the customer had originally required. Trane Rental Switzerland did not immediately have the VLT 60 units in stock however the team was able to swiftly obtain these from its sister depot in Austria.

    The low temperature water-cooled VLT60 chiller utilises the latest energy-saving screw compressors, offering a wide temperature range of -10\u00b0C to -40\u00b0C water leaving temperature and 10% – 100% capacity control. The chiller is also fully F-gas compliant and benefits from low noise operation and a compact footprint.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    <\/span>Results<\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

    Once the customer\u2019s real needs were identified during the site visit, Trane Rental was able to supply and install the low temperature VLT60 chillers and Sintesis eXcellent air-cooled cooling unit in under a week. The rental period is for 12 weeks and the customer is very satisfied with the solution.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
